While we may be lucky enough to see elk roaming across the Smokey Shadow's property, you can always take a drive to the Oconaluftee Visitor Center inside the Great Smoeky Mountians National Park. The elk typically roam the valley in the early morning or late evening—but remember to keep your distance as they can be aggressive.
