Jared and Melissa started as acquaintances and friends, circling each other for years. For most of their time in Savannah they lived and worked blocks from one another, even walking the same way to work every morning yet always barely missing each other. Then finally, after years of familiarity and social interaction, they were both single at the same time. One of Savannah's classic nightlife events, Hip Hop Night at The Jinx, hosted by our friend DJ Basik Lee, was coming up, as it did every Tuesday night. Melissa on a whim, after seeing Jared pop up on her instagram feed more than usual, decided to reach out and invite him! She also spent the time to reach out to several of their mutual friends, ensuring the quiet guy she thought him to be would show up. Then comes Tuesday. Melissa shows up at his house, a little early, as usual. She will never forget sitting in his then living room and J quietly sitting across the room, looking up and saying, "you look really pretty" as he looked over his glasses with his signature smirk. That night they had so much fun- dancing, singing, laughing, enjoying G&T's and bathing in the chemistry they didn't expect! Honestly, the rest is history. Dates, and jobs, and dreams, ups and downs, and trips, and hardships, prayer and growth, and more dancing and more singing, so much laughing and hoping and healing... and Isley. We are so blessed and we express our deep gratitude every day for one another. And as we always joke... We were just tryin' to go to hip hop night.
