How We Met

April 19, 2013

It all started with a typical Friday night at Baxter's on Bardstown Rd., Laura was out with a group of Pi Phi's and Jared was out with his group of friends shortly after moving back to Louisville from Huntsville. As always the group of girls were out on the dance floor but Laura spotted this guy standing up against the wall looking like he was ready to go home, but clearly his friends were not. Laura never wanting anyone to not have fun quickly approached Jared and forced him out on the dance floor to do his signature dance move, one hand raised in the air. At the end of the night the girls were leaving and Laura made a move to ask for Jared's number.

The Proposal

May 12, 2018

In typical Laura fashion this proposal was not easy on Jared. All week leading up to the big day, Laura was dead set on going to Henderson as usual for Mother's Day weekend, but Bev "decided" for Mother's Day this year she'd rather come to Louisville, and since it was her day Laura gave in and reluctantly stayed in Louisville. Earlier in the week Jared had mentioned wanting to go to the walking bridge, which Laura had been asking him to do for months, of course Laura wanted to go on Friday instead of waiting until Saturday, but after some convincing from friends Laura agreed to wait until Saturday to go. Saturday started out like normal, Laura got up went to Barre class and Yoga, then tried to convince Jared to just meet at the walking bridge now instead of going home getting ready and then going back downtown. After being forced by her roommate Dana to go home and get ready Laura went and got ready. Once arriving at the walking bridge Jared said lets walk to other side and grab a drink, but Laura of course left her ID in the car when they made it over to Indiana. Jared still got his beer and Laura sat there and just talking about still being annoyed about not being able to go home for Mother's Day, also then annoyed that Jared was on his phone the whole time (texting with our friends waiting on the other side of the bridge). After finishing his beer they walked back across the bridge, where back on the Kentucky side Jared got down on one knee and couldn't even get all of the words out before Laura screamed (loud enough to scare people in Indiana), YES! Then Jared pointed for Laura to look over on the other side and out comes some of their best friends, capturing everything on film. The night was not over yet, Jared with the help of his mom had planned a surprise party, complete with friends and family. Of course Laura's parents were there and all in the surprise.

For all the days along the way
