Flight and Hotel Tips

- We highly recommend flying into Leon or Queretaro, if possible. There are buses that can take you from either airport to San Miguel, but the most popular and suggested mode of transportation is a reserved shuttle/car service. Cost ranges from $60-$100 each way. Please do not take a taxi from the airport to San Miguel. We also do not recommend renting a car, as San Miguel is an old city with extremely narrow streets and limited parking. - As for accommodations, nearly every hotel and B&B in San Miguel is stunning and authentic! San Miguel is a small town and bed and breakfasts typically only include a few rooms, so rooms tend to fill up quickly. We recommend booking a room as soon as possible. Additionally, Airbnb is a great option for some beautiful and unique places to stay at affordable prices. We recommend staying somewhere in the Centro neighborhood or within walking distance of El Jardin.

Travel Tips

- Plan on arriving with both small and larger billed pesos as taxis, smaller restaurants, and certain shops may not accept U.S. dollars. Pesos also come in handy for tipping your driver from the airport and any wait staff if you are renting a house for the weekend. There are several centrally-located ATMs on the main square should you need to make any additional withdrawals. - If you take a taxi in San Miguel, make sure you use a green or white taxi (these are official). Also make sure you ask the taxi driver what the rate will be to your destination before you get into the taxi. A trip within the city should cost around 30 or 40 pesos at night. - The streets of San Miguel are made of cobblestone and are definitely not stiletto-friendly! We suggest that you bring comfortable walking shoes for exploring the city during the day and dressy sandals, wedges, or block heels for any of the wedding events.

More Tips

- If you are sensitive to noise while sleeping, we recommend bringing ear plugs. This is a loud city that never sleeps...don't be surprised to hear fireworks going off during the night! - San Miguel is more than 6,400 feet in elevation, so you might tire quickly during your first day if you aren't accustomed to high altitudes. Stay well hydrated before and during your trip. Tap water is not advised and it is safest to drink bottled water.
