We met while working in Glacier Bay, Alaska the summer of 2012. We immediately connected over our similar taste in music and love of the outdoors. Our relationship grew over the summer through many adventures in the Alaskan wilderness; there's no denying that kayaking with orcas is pretty romantic! When the summer came to a close we decided to continue dating long distance and here we are 5 years and many adventures later!
Jared proposed on August 9, 2016 in Crescent City, California during a sunset walk along the beach. We know it sounds pretty romantic, but as we all know real life is a little messy... Jared almost missed his sunset moment because Katherine was insistent upon watching reruns of "Walker Texas Ranger" for some inexplicable reason. As Jared romantically got down on one knee, he was thoroughly encouraged by Kat's response of: "What are you doing? Why are you on the ground?" Of course Lando was present for the big moment and felt that he should be included; he tried really hard to drag Kat into the ocean while Jared tried to place the ring on her finger. Luckily Jared isn't clumsy and the ring was not washed away into the Pacific.
Since neither of us can be described as traditional, we felt a traditional wedding wasn't for us. Our love of travel led us to decide on a destination wedding. We will be getting married in a private ceremony on September 20th in Scotland. After the ceremony we are going to spend a couple of weeks exploring various cities in the UK before returning to the US to celebrate with family and friends!
We can't wait for you all to join us in October to celebrate our marriage! We will be having a reception at Kat's parent's house in Alabama on October 7th. Further information regarding the event and accommodations can be found on the "Travel" and "Things To Do" tabs of this website.
