Can you believe it? We’re finally getting married!

Even though we had grown up in the same town, we did not meet until we were in our early 20s after we both took a healthcare job supporting the same family. As it turns out, this family was very involved in their community and during our first shift together we were tasked with peeling tiny bits of tape off 1,000+ plastic Easter eggs from that year’s community Easter Egg Hunt. With 10+ hours worth of tape peeling, and Devin talking Jared’s ear off, we both knew there was a connection! After a couple of weeks of flirting, Jared finally asked Devin out on their first date to the Saranac Lake, NY 4th of July fireworks. When he went to pick Devin up for the date, Waffles, promptly, escaped her house by running out the front door and we had to quickly chase him down. Waffles really wanted to make an unforgettable first impression and it must have worked because the rest is history!

About a year and a half into our relationship, we both knew we wanted to get married one day as we had talked about it frequently. One day, Devin was talking with her then boss, Heidi Dickstein, who had asked if an engagement was in our future. Devin told her that we wanted to eventually and Heidi asked, “Then why don’t you propose to him?”. The idea fascinated Devin, and even made her a little apprehensive due to how out of the “norm” it was. But Heidi was right, why not propose? There’s nothing that said that Devin wasn’t allowed to be the one to propose #GirlPower! And that conversation turned out to be perfect timing because we were in the middle of planning a Caribbean cruise! Devin spent weeks trying to find the perfect ring for Jared and determining where, when, and how she was going to propose. On our second day on the cruise, we were sitting on our balcony enjoying the beautiful views and the amazing weather and at that moment Devin knew it was the time. She grabbed the ring from its hiding spot, came back out to the balcony, and proposed!
