The day Jared asked to join my run at FCA camp, I was completely unaware of everything he had planned. Throughout the week, he kept popping up—at meals, at socials, always finding a way to be around. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but on the drive home, it finally hit me. After camp, spending time with Jared quickly became one of my favorite things. Building a friendship—talking about books, going for runs, and taking long walks. As our relationship grew from friendship into dating, I got to see his heart in a deeper way. Watching him navigate big decisions at church, like transitioning to two services, was such an encouraging and exciting season. His leadership, faith, and steady presence made me admire him even more. One of the moments that really sealed it for me was when he came to the state cross country meet in Rapid City, SD. He wasn’t just there for me—he was cheering for my runners, talking with team parents, fully present and invested in something that meant so much to me. That weekend, I knew without a doubt—this man was the real deal. And now, here we are. A few months later, he finally talked me into marrying him, and I couldn’t be more excited to start this rich, beautiful life together!
We met at a Fellowship of Christian Athletes camp in 2021, but Cait wasn't interested...yet 😉 Just kidding...we didn't really talk for some reason (big whiff, Jared). Years go by and we're in 2024 at the same camp. I was the killer speaker and swept Cait off her feet. I invited myself on a run and she two-stepped me the whole time (meaning she was always two steps ahead). We talked life, faith, and the Bible. I was hooked. Cait had to go slow because my legs were cooked from Black Hills State's notorious noodle beds. We saw each other later that day at the coffee shop. Cait was reading her Bible and I was enthralled (literally the words I texted Stacy Girard). I asked her if she'd be interested in getting to know each other. With the help of some friends, Cait said she'd think about it 😉 She told me she'd send me a happy birthday text a few days later, but never did 😂 She told me about two weeks later she was "in," and I knew this thing was locked-in. Cait? Not so much. But now they're both LOCKED-IN LET'S GO! Thank you for being a part of our big day!!!! We love you!!!
