We met back in 2016 through a friend of our who worked at our local radio station. I (Angel) worked at a grocery store where she was doing a promotion for the station and we got to talking about how we both have always wanted to learn how to play Dungeons & Dragons. She had a friend that was skilled at being a dungeon master (DM), so we started a campaign. I went to her house and everybody was already there. Snacks were laid out, a fold out table was already covered in character sheets and dice, and wrestling was playing in the background on the TV. I met everybody for the first time, and I was so happy to meet so many possible future friends. They told me to go ahead and fill out a character sheet, and I told them I had no idea what I was doing. Jared then sat me down beside him and helped me through the steps on how to make a character and set up stats. From that point on, I knew it was something special.
Around this point, I wasn't sure if we were actually a "thing" yet. I had just come off of a bad breakup and I was so nervous about the whole situation because I really liked Jared a lot and I didn't want to mess this up. One day when we were driving, he gave me a bag with an envelope in it and it was tickets to a Justin Timberlake concert in Ohio. I cried not only because it was JUSTIN FREAKIN TIMBERLAKE, but I mentioned once that my parents never had the opportunity to take me to an *NSYNC concert when I was younger. This was a bucket list item for me for so long, and I honestly couldn't believe he managed to get tickets without somehow spoiling it the surprise. We went to a Brazilian steakhouse that was across from the venue, and afterward we went to the best concert I had ever attended. I remember crying when I saw Justin's silhouette and the lady next to me handed me a small packet of travel tissues and pat me on the back. We drove back home in our rental car later that night, and my seat was propped all the way back because I was super tired. As he was driving, he took my hand and told me how much fun he had that day. He then asked me if I would like to be his girlfriend. Without hesitation, I told him yes and we stopped at a gas station so he could buy me a stuffed animal.
On our anniversary, Jared booked us an evening in a cabin hidden in the woods specifically for couples. It was decked out with an outdoor jacuzzi, a whirlpool bath, a cozy little kitchen and a giant bed. We arrived in the afternoon and later that night, I wanted to take a bath before I went to bed. After about 30 minutes (yes, it took me that long because I did NOT want to get out of the comfortable bathtub), I step into the living room and he's sitting on the couch looking at me with a smile on his face, dressed in a light blue button up shirt and shorts. I remember asking him why he was so dressed up this late at night, and he sat me down on the couch. He got up and bent down on one knee and opened up a little red box with a ring inside and asked me to be his wife. My response? "Me? Are you sure??" He kinda rolled his eyes a bit and laughed and said yes. I started BAWLING my eyes out and finally said yes. He put the ring on my finger.....and it was too small. We both laughed and were like "It's okay, we can get it resized". I immediately called my mom to tell her the news and she said, "Oh honey, I already knew! He called me." I was confused at first, and then I realized how she had known. She told me that Jared called and asked for her blessing, and that Mom gave him a ring. That ring was the same ring my father had originally proposed to my mother with years ago. My dad passed away back in 2012, so this obviously had a lot of meaning to me because me and my dad were almost like best friends. It was the most romantic thing he could've done to propose, and I am so happy that I get to marry him and be with him for the rest of my life.
