The connection was through a friend, and although we talked for a brief time, the connection was automatic between us. The first time we met was at church. We sat beside each other, both thinking we were more nervous than the other. Afterwards, we went back to a house that I was house sitting to watch a movie and just hang out with friends. Slowly but surely, our hands drifted closer and closer until they were touching and eventually clutching the other. Emotions were flying, and sparks grew brighter until the movie ended. The three girls said their goodbyes and walked out the door. I ventured upstairs to get ready for bed, to end a seemingly perfect day. I had just gotten up the steps when I heard the door click and quick footsteps come across the floor. I walked back down to see who forgot something, and it happened to be Mackenzie. We came together and hugged and told each other how much we enjoyed the evening. She looked up at me and I back at her, staring deep into the souls of each other. I leaned down and whispered in her ear, “I’ve never kissed anyone before.” She giggled and said it was okay, and we kissed, making the first magical moment of our many together. Time passed by, and here we are, a year later, a little wiser, and all the more in love, beginning to plan a life together.
