Jackie & Riley met their senior year in our Advertising Program at Western Michigan University. During the first week of class, they did not have a new partner to work on an assignment. Immediately, they hit it off making eachother laugh but nothing came of it after our first interaction. Fast forward to a month later. Our second interaction at "The Library" where Jackie was very excited to see Riley, maybe a little too excited, and proceeded to spill her drink all over him. Jackie initially thought she blew her chance with him. Embarrassed, Jackie had anxiety about the next time she would see Riley. The following week, fate came into play and randomly assigned the two in the same group project for the rest of the semester. During this project, Riley constantly hit on Jackie. Jackie, being herself, was oblivious the entire time. Riley, being himself, didn't want to embarass himself and make a move. The following semester, the two had a decision to make on which group they wanted to participate in. Each of them had to schedule time with their professor to do a mock job interview. Jackie, finishing up her interview, ran into Riley, who was waiting outside her office. Riley, being naturally curious, asked Jackie what group she interviewed for knowing he was going to interview for the strategy team. She mentioned the media team, and Riley immediately changed his team to media to make sure he got to spend more time with her. Throughout the semester, they continued to hit it off and enjoy each other's company. As time went on, Riley was still unsure if Jackie was into him (She laughs at EVERYTHING) leading his mind to race on what to do. One day in early February, the two really started talking to each other more beyond their classes together. After two weeks of continuing to get to know each other, Riley finally asked Jackie to hangout. Jackie said yes, their first hangout consisted of attending advertising class and getting Baja Blast freezes at Taco Bell. From that first hangout, they became instantly very comfortable with one another and were eager for their next date. Then senior year spring break came up and Jackie went to Florida, during that time they were consistently texting and calling one another. They were counting down the short four days until they saw each other again. Once Jackie got back to Michigan, she was eager to come back to Kalamazoo to see Riley. After spring break, Riley and Jackie were inseparable and couldn’t get enough of one another. Little did they know that they were quickly approaching a global pandemic that shut the world down. In many ways, as scary and unexpected this time of their lives was, it allowed them to truly get to know each other. The pair made the most of these days by going on frequent walks, sharing stories, and binge watching TV shows. As the summer came to a close, the two moved back home to the east side to begin their careers. As life began to slowly go back to normal, they found themselves prioritizing the limited time they got to see each other doing. Fast forward to 3 years later, Riley found himself at the jewelry store buying the ring that Jackie has always wanted. He knew from day one she was the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. With the ring in hand, Riley began to plan out the special day they would remember for the rest of their lives. He planned a special trip down to Florida to pop the question. On October 20, 2023, Riley took Jackie down to a private beach to watch the sunset. Ring and poem in hand, he patiently waited to find a quiet space to propose to the love of his life. Finding the right time, Riley let Jackie read the poem he wrote for her out loud. Nervous, he slowly began to bring the ring out to drop down to one knee and ask her to spend the rest of his life with him. The two have been inseparable since the day they began talking and are extremely excited to have each and everyone of you celebrate their special day with them.
