Our story began long before we truly understood what love meant. We were just children, innocent and carefree, surrounded by a close circle of friends during our primary school days. In the middle of laughter, simple joys, and everyday classroom life, a quiet bond was forming. Even the smallest moments felt special, like sharing food from Rita’s lunch box, something so simple, yet now so meaningful.
As we grew older and completed junior high school, life led us in different directions. At just 15 years old, before we went our separate ways, Jacob made a bold declaration, one that came from a heart already certain. He told Rita that one day, she would become his wife and the mother of his children. It may have sounded like a dream then, but it was a promise that never faded.
Jacob continued his journey at Opoku Ware School, while Rita went on to Bekwai SDA Secondary School. Though we were no longer in the same place, the connection we shared remained, quietly holding its place through the years.
Years later, after completing secondary school, life brought us back together again at the Institute of Management Studies in Ayeduase. This time, we were older, more aware, and ready to understand what had always been there. What began as childhood friendship had grown into something deeper, something undeniable. We made a conscious decision to walk life together.
In our second year, another chapter began when Rita moved to the United Kingdom at the invitation of her parents. Though distance separated us, our love only grew stronger. A year later, Jacob followed, joining her in the UK through a school program to study accounting. Once again, our paths aligned.
Not long after, we took the most important step, marriage. What started as a childhood connection had become a lifelong commitment. From sharing lunches in primary school to building a life together across continents, our journey has been one of faith, patience, growth, and enduring love.
Now, 23 years later, we look back with gratitude, not only for how far we have come, but for the beautiful story we continue to write together.
