Our Story

Jantzen and Evan’s story began on a crisp February evening in 2023 in Louisville, Kentucky—courtesy of modern romance’s finest wingman, the dating app Hinge. Their first date featured vibrant Mayan cuisine followed by an unforgettable drag show. It was somewhere between the salsa and the sequins that Jantzen knew this was something special. When Evan casually remarked that he’d “love to date a girl who wore sequins,” her heart practically skipped a beat. After all, sequins aren’t just a fabric to Jantzen—they’re a lifestyle (and possibly her favorite color). A few weeks later, Evan asked Jantzen to be his girlfriend—on the very same night he watched Jon Snow return from the dead. For Evan, it was a night of epic comebacks, romance, and mild TV spoilers (apologies if you’re still on season five of Game of Thrones). From the start, they embodied the old adage that opposites attract. Jantzen adores music; Evan, until recently, couldn’t have picked Taylor Swift out of a lineup. Evan fearlessly rides unicycles down mountains; Jantzen considers escalators a hazard. Jantzen’s idea of “the great outdoors” is sipping wine on a patio; Evan could thrive indefinitely in a treehouse. She loves sports; he prefers rocket launches and tractor videos on YouTube. And yet, their differences never divide them—they’ve learned to champion each other’s passions. For Jantzen, that’s meant hiking through a jungle in Thailand. For Evan, it’s meant seeing Wicked. The moment they knew it was forever came when Evan convinced Jantzen—Queen of Ohio, Cincinnati devotee, and aficionado of Ubers, live concerts, and post-home-run fireworks—to trade it all for a small town in rural Minnesota. Gone were the rideshares and skyline views, replaced with one stoplight, no Ubers, and a bar called the Deerstand. But Jantzen had Evan—and a steady mail-order supply of Skyline Chili—so the trade felt right. Evan proposed during Kentucky Derby weekend, Jantzen’s favorite time of year, where bourbon and mint juleps flowed in celebration. Today, they are thrilled for a lifetime of adventures together and grateful to have their favorite people here to share in the joy. In true New Orleans style: Laissez les bons temps rouler! (Translation: put your phones down, pick your drinks up, and let the good times roll)
