The largest town in the local area, with lots of options for restaurants and bars as well as a port and a few beaches. Check out Magazinos which has great street food eatery, open late every day. Casa Federico has also been recommended to us if you like seafood. Just a note, other than the town centre, it is quite spread out so it may be worth hiring a car to get around.
Xabia is a smaller but lively town with picturesque beaches. We will likely be based around here. Known to have some of the most beautiful natural beaches in the area and home to Montgo Natural Park and a 15th Century fishing port, its a good place to explore.
Calpe is famous for its mighty rock, the Peñon de Ifach mountain, which shapes the landscape there and gives the beaches of the coast a really unique backdrop. A colorful old town, picturesque beaches, pink flamingos and spectacular viewpoints are just a few of the most beautiful attractions that you can experience here. It has a lovely beach and caters to expats with some English & Irish bars.
Altea is a quaint little artistic town close by to Denia, dubbed as "The Santorini of Spain." The old town, known as Casco Antiguo, is specifically built on the hill and is characterized by its white houses. Many consider it a hilltop town, and it's known as "the Dome of the Mediterranean". Think cobbled streets, domed churches, markets and the best Tinto de Verano on tap! We loved it here.
Moraira is a small seaside town south of Beniarbeng. Home to El Portet beach it has some great spots to get fresh seafood and tapas with an ocean view. Parking is tricky on the beach front but fine everywhere else. There's a great little town square on the coast with a few historical sites to check out as well.
If you didn't get enough of your party fix at the wedding, Ibiza is just a short ferry ride away! The ferry leaves from Denia's port on a regular basis, so you could either have a few days there beforehand, or do what we're doing and head there a few days after the wedding. The ferry takes 2 hours and arrives into Ibiza Old Town for around €60 return depending on when you book. Well worth a visit while you're here, even if you're not still a raver!
Valencia is north of where we'll be situated on the Mediterranean coast. It's well known for its beaches, orange groves, and buzzing nightlife. Well worth the visit to experience traditional Catalonian culture & food. Only an hours drive away!
Alicante is a sunny coastal city in the southeast, great for beaches, a bit of exploring, and soaking up the relaxed vibe. It’s a fun spot if you’re up for a mix of sea, sun, and a little history.
