Yumi Hall
Mother of the Bride
Yumi was born in South Korea and is Anna's mom. She loves to takes walks at the Walkway Over the Hudson and send her friends encouraging Bible verses or funny videos on Kakao.
Linda L.C. Ong
Mother of the Groom
Linda was born in Taiwan and later received her Masters in Linguistic Studies from UC Davis. She later moved to NJ with her family to work in the telecommunications industry. After a decade, Linda decided to shift her career to education and music. She faithfully served at her local church (Monmouth Community Christian Church) as a choir director and Sunday school teacher. She also taught Mandarin in the NJ school system for many years.
Rich Hall
Father of the Bride
Rich grew up in upstate New York and is Anna's dad. Always enjoying music, he likes to play guitar and leads musical praise at church. He also loves to talk about food and new jokes he heard recently (or not so recently).
Louise Caleo
Grandmother of the Bride
Louise currently lives in upstate New York and is Anna's grandma. Louise hosts family dinners at her house every Friday and enjoys cooking for her family. She also loves walking, staying active, and knitting blankets and clothes.
Helen Ying
Grandmother of the Groom
Having moved from China to Taiwan during the Chinese Civil War and worked at the National Bank of Taiwan. She then moved to the States and has lived in New Jersey for over 30 years. Helen loves to read, classical music, play Go and Chinese chess, all you can eat buffets... Grandma Ying is one of the most talented painters ever. Her early influence in Jensen's life, encouraged him to pursue architecture as a profession. Helen recently just turned 93!
Daniel Hall
Brother of the Bride
Daniel was born in upstate New York and is Anna's younger brother. He loves playing guitar, technology, and talking to people about God. He also loves posting embarrassing photos of Anna >.<
Jennifer Ying
Sister of the Groom
Jen is Jensen's older sister. Jen has always been stronger than Jensen so he knew never picked a fight with her. She loves to run marathons, play text adventures and rpg games, play piano, and has two cats. Jen works as an attorney in Delaware and enjoys scuba diving and curling with her husband, Paul.
Heather Zhang
Maid of Honor
Anna met Heather at Skidmore during sophomore year through campus ministry. One summer they were both at Skidmore and made a music video together. Pranking is one of her love languages, and this is true for Anna too (but not at the same level as Heather). She helped plan the proposal, and she's currently living in NJ.
Bo Zhu
Best Man
During Jensen's search for a church in 2013, Bo hosted a Citylife community group in Cambridge. Jensen was quickly drawn to Bo's enthusiasm, satirical humor, and willingness to share his life with others. Bo served as his deacon before throwing Jensen into the mix. Passionate and humble, Bo is one of the smartest people he knows. His interests cover a wide range of things from complexity theory and neural networks to remixing music. What makes Bo special to Jensen is that he is not only intellectually driven, but also tries his best to relate and to empathize with others. Bo is now married, working as a postdoc in MGH (advancing MRI imaging with machine learning), and reprising his role as a community group leader.
Isabel Yanghee Kim
Bridesmaid
Anna met Isabel around 2015 at small group for our church, CCFC. They're now co-leaders of this small group. She loves to sing and is part of a post-graduate acapella group in Boston. She also helped plan the proposal, and she's currently living in Boston.
Michael Hwang
Groomsman
The official story goes: Jensen used to bully Michael, but hopefully that's in the past. He's Jensen's oldest friend, and has been a major influence to him while growing up. As kids, they would disrupt Sunday school and Chinese school classes with their antics and while trying to put a smile on peoples' faces. Michael loves to play video/boards games, enjoys sarcastic/dry/witty humor, and loves to try new things. He now works as an MD in internal medicine at Mount Sinai.
Ann-Marie Raphail
Bridesmaid
Anna met Ann-Marie at Skidmore our freshman year through campus ministry. She also goes by the name Anna, and conflict over our name eventually led to the need for a peace treaty. Ann-Marie's favorite movie is "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," and she can recite the lines by heart. She also helped plan the proposal, and she's currently living in Philly.
Thomas Wei
Groomsman
Thomas and Jensen grew up in neighboring towns, went to the same church and Chinese school. Thomas likes to watch a ton of movies, play computer games, shoot photography, shop for high end clothing, and to play Nertz. Seeing Thomas grow spiritually has been a delight to Jensen. He now serves as a deacon at his home church and has been faithfully organizing our young adult ministry for the past couple of years.
Shinea Hutchings
Bridesmaid
Anna has known Shinea probably since birth. They grew up together at Hosanna Church in NY, and used to tell people at school that they were cousins. Anna helped plan a "Friends" themed surprise party for Shinea because it's her favorite tv show. No joke, "Friends" references open the door to her heart. lol. And she's currently living in NY.
John Eui-Song Kim
Groomsman
John was Jensen's first deskmate in college. They would spend many all-nighters unashamedly singing along to my Coldplay/Miley Cyrus playlist. Occasionally, they would sneak in a Starcraft match and a hot-tub session in the midst of our busy schedules. John loves to meet new people, play softball, go running, and test out new gadgets. To illustrate what his relationship with John was like, they once fought over how tall we thought a light pole was for over 20 minutes. John now works as a planner at a resort developer group in upstate New York.
Sabrina Seo
Bridesmaid
Anna has known Sabrina since she was born, and also grew up at Hosanna Church in NY. She used to sleep over Anna's house for days at a time, and our favorite sleepover activities were card games and drawing on Anna's brother Daniel's face. Anna's not sure if Sabrina remembers this, but Anna once wrote her a rap and she didn't like it. She's currently living in Boston and recently graduated from Northeastern.
Karno Widjaja
Groomsman
Mr. Widjaja (pronounced "wid-jaiya"), was one of Jensen's first studio-mates. He loves to sing Broadway musicals and play with his cat - maybe not both at the same time. He's a candid Singaporean nationalist but secretly loves his community here in Boston more than anything. Karno loves cats, traveling, talking about architecture, and can make a mean bowl of bak kut teh. Having recently finishing graduate school, Karno now works at an architecture firm here in Cambridge.
