Destined To Be

April 6, 2025

The way we met was orchestrated so beautifully, and we knew that if we really hit it off, it would make an even beautiful love story. I (Janitta) am not big on social media, and neither is Shaq, but somehow we both found ourselves on a Christian dating app liking each other's profile (of course, he liked mine first). When we matched, Shaq had no idea of the secret I was holding-- our mothers knew each other! ***Side Note: He knows*** But if only he knew how hard my mom plotted to have us meet, but no success. Since the first day we connected, we texted consecutively for weeks before we finally met in person-- at my (Janitta) church. There were a couple of sleepless nights where we stayed up talking on the phone for 10 hours, 13 hours even, and the conversation never grew stale. With that being said, after 13 hours of conversation, I never saw the pillow that night. I got ready and went straight to church. I had been up for 28 hours before I was home, and finally was able to rest. I was sure Shaq would not bother reaching out to me later that day after conversing all night into the morning. It was to my surprise that I woke up from my midday nap to a message, sent only 19 minutes prior, that said, "Hey how has your day been?" Ultimately, through much transparency, we soon found out how much we had in common. I tell him all the time, "it's like we're the same person" (lol)! Okay, okay, not really, but I believe that our purpose here on earth is interconnected, which is why God brought us together on His time. In closing, we are constantly reminded of the Bible Verse from Proverbs 18:22, "He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favor from the LORD." It was I Shaq, who found my good thing, in my wife to be, Janitta.
