After meeting online and texting non-stop for a week, we met in person by going against everything murder-mystery documentaries teach you. We agreed that we would go for a hike and enjoy the early summer weather. True to form, James arrived early and Katherine parked right next to him, about 5 minutes late. As we made our way up the mountain James displayed his sense of humor, counting how many times Katherine tripped. Despite the gentle mocking, we spent the next few hours talking, laughing & getting to know each other. The rest is history. The hike to Heublein Tower is now a hike that we try to go on every year.
The proposal took a bit of inspiration from our first date, a long walk outside. This time it was in the middle of a snowstorm & in the middle of the city we call home. On the snowy morning of January 29th, James asked Katherine if she wanted to go out for a walk in the snow in Central Park (something he knows Katherine will never say no to). Of course the answer to hot chocolate, seeing Central Park in the snow & the other question asked that day, were all YES!
