We met at the Forbush School in Hunt Valley in 2014, where Janis was the occupational therapist in Doug's classroom. Janis swore she would never date Doug. They went on their first official date New Years' Eve in 2017. After having dinner at Paulie Gee's, Janis crutched around Hampden with Doug to watch the ball drop. Doug bought Janis hot chocolate, opened car doors for her, and they stayed out until 3am playing instruments in an impromptu band.

Janis and Doug's first wedding was postponed in June 2020 due to COVID. It was postponed until June 2021 and then postponed again due to the ongoing pandemic. In November 2020, Janis and Doug moved into their home on a wonderful street in Parkville, MD. In March 2021, they welcomed their first child.
