God has done big things in her life to spark a deep desire in her to share the joys and truths about food, fitness, and all things health with others who may be struggling in a variety of ways. She is a fun-loving, quirky, wise, compassionate beyond belief, reserved but ambitious, silly, Jesus-loving young woman who cannot wait to become Janie Steele Perez! She loves being outside taking walks, listening to music, exercising, cooking new recipes, taking naps, and dreaming of traveling to new places. Alejandro, get ready for her! Mr. Pérez! The talk of the town! Alejandro is 27 years old and has been living in St.Louis for over 8 years. His heart is precious and loving, and it is evident that he cares for Janie immensely through his actions. He pursued Janie's heart sweetly and innocently, and he has been such a gift to the Hughes family. Alejandro taught the Hughes's all the proper ways to cook salsa, eat tacos, and prepare non-stereotypical Mexican dishes that are out of this world. He has opened our eyes to not only good food but the beauty of a different culture and broken down so many unnecessary walls that we never knew we had.. He LOVES cars, and he's genuine, adventurous, hard-working, faithful, and 100% lives in-the-moment 24/7 - a gift most people can never do in a lifetime! Janie is a lucky girl!

Bff's since their first day of high school! Janie and Kathryn's friendship has revolved around Jesus, puppy chow, macarons, creating music videos to the Wicked soundtrack, Disney movies, writing each other 8-page letters, snuggling, and traveling the world together. Everyone needs a Kathryn in their life because her deep joy and positivity is the most refreshing thing to be around. Janie couldn't ask for a better friend to stick with her all these years and stand by her side on this special wedding day. Kathryn, you are LOVED!
Rachel Chen

Rachel and Janie met their first day of college when Rachel randomly sat down beside Janie in the dining hall of their dorm. When they realized they were both Christians, it was an instant bond from there on out! Three years later, they became roommates and became like sisters and always enjoyed bonding over Sunday brunches, cooking together in the tiniest apartment kitchen, and laughing 24/7. God blessed Janie with such a solid friend. Rachel, you are wonderful!
Shannon Kiley

Shannon and Janie first interacted through Facebook before starting their first year in college when Shannon read Janie's "Bio" post she had written on their class's FB page to introduce herself. Shannon instantly connected with her quirky humor and innocence and slid into Janie's DM's quickly asking her to be her roommate. They were roomies for 2 (basically 3) years in college where they bonded over ALL things basil pesto, chocolate, peanut butter, smoothies, Lulu's, banana bread, the list goes on. They always loved their girl walk-and-talks from their apartment to the beautiful pond at SLU's campus. Shannon, you are simply a delight, and Janie is so incredibly thankful for who God made you to be and how he crossed your paths.
Annie Remack

The long-time friend of 20+ years! Annie and Janie have been neighbors since they were about 3 years old. They grew up always playing together, dressing up, creating plays to perform for their parents, drinking chocolate milk, and fighting frequently just like sisters would. Recently, Annie and Janie rekindled a beautiful Christ-centered friendship, and it is such a blessing. They check in with other almost everyday on how they're doing each doing mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and everything in between as they share struggles, praises, prayer requests, and their day's activities with one another. Janie could not be any happier to have her longest friend stand by her side on this special day.
Martin Perez
Best Man
Martin is Alejandro's older brother. He's been living in St.Louis for over 15 years with his wife and two kids, but originally he's from Michoachan, Mexico! Martin is a real fun dude who will talk to anybody and make them feel comfortable right away. A real skill! He's also an awesome waiter at Fitz's and the Original Pancake House (pre-quarantine, but will go back eventually).
Forrest Hughes

Forrest is Janie's oldest brother who currently lives in Denver, CO with his wife and dog, Athos (Also known as Mr. 'Thos). Forrest is a lover of all things games, videography, photography, Warhammer, taco-eating, and learning the art of cooking various cuisines. He's also just like a happy puppy who can light up any room he walks into. Makes everyone laugh all the time!
Hunter Hughes

Hunter is Janie's older brother (#middlechild) who lives in Tampa, FL with his wife. He is a wonderful and wacky person that will make you laugh and unable to stop laughing with his peculiar silliness. Hunter is a smart cookie and lover of all things music and learning about Jesus. He also is a Mexican-food fanatic, as he should be.
