From Texas and Illinois to Missouri to New York City — apparently, geography had plans for Janice and David long before they did. They technically met in the summer of 2016 (a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo), but it wasn’t until the winter of 2019 at Mizzou that things actually stuck. Janice considered it a fun little senior-year plot twist. David, meanwhile, was already reading it as a long-running series. After graduation, Janice moved to New York and very confidently said, “Don’t follow me.” David replied, “I’m not — I’m going for the job opportunities.” Reader, that was not entirely true. Five years later, they’re still in New York where David proposed, proving that sometimes the best opportunities are the ones you “accidentally” follow.
