10th-grade year, I heard whispers of a new girl coming to school from New York. When she finally got to school and I saw her, I told my friend, "yup, that's gonna be my woman, watch!" I knew she was doing martial arts at a studio and immediately switched my gym membership. Fast forward a few months, and we're on a date. I remember when I first asked her to be my Queen and she made me wait several days for a response and now I convinced her to be with me for life!
After starting at a new school, I was getting to know some people. One day, while headed to class, I saw a guy coming out of the gym with a few friends, one of which was in a few of my classes. For some reason, he intrigued me. Since he was close friends with one of my classmates/ new friends, we would often be in close proximity to each other, so he started speaking to me while we walked to class. He eventually passed along his phone number. That summer, he asked me to be his girlfriend. At first, I gave him a hard time, but of course I said yes!
We decided to take a trip to Savannah, GA for his birthday. I had never been to Savannah before, so I researched some things to do. Little did I know, he was also planning his proposal. We had a Riverboat Cruise set up for dinner plans. The sun was beginning to set during our dinner providing the perfect opportunity for photos. Our waitress escorted us to the top of the boat for pictures. The boat was turning around while we were adjusting for our photo and the Talmadge Memorial Bridge was about to be in the background. I was trying to get him to face the photographer and be ready for the picture to be taken, but, to my surprise, he got on one knee and popped the question. I had no idea the waitress and other staff were in on it too. It was a perfectly-crafted surprise. For the rest of the trip, when others asked the purpose of our visit to Savannah, it went something like- "it's his birthday...AND WE JUST GOT ENGAGED!".
