We met at BG McGees in 2006. I was a waitress and he knew a few people that I was friends with. Most people know that I didn’t really like him at first… I told myself that he just wasn’t my type. We hung out a lot for a while due to the fact that we had so many mutual friends, but even still we just remained friends. It took a LOT of convincing (thanks Kiantay and Jay), but eventually I decided we could at least go on a date and honestly things just kinda clicked! We harmonized literally by accident. Months went by and I had taken a trip to the beach with my BG’s girls for bike rally and he called while I was there to say he had decided to make a trip to the beach too… I was pretty excited! We spent the rest of the weekend on a motorcycle, taking long rides from one end of the beach to the other watching sunsets and talking for hours. I don’t think I saw my friends, or anyone else for that matter, for like 3 days!! And that’s pretty much when we knew, “Okay, this could really be something.”
It was a random night and he called me saying that he wanted to take me out to eat crab legs, which I normally love, but this day I just wasn’t in the mood. After he basically insisted, I threw on a sweatshirt and some sneakers, put my hair in a messy bun and was ready to go. He said “don’t you want to put on something a little nicer than that or something babe?” to which I responded “You wanted me to go, so I’m going like this’. That conversation ended there, lol! After dinner he said he wanted to take a walk downtown before we went home for the night which I actually though was a great idea since the weather was so nice. We walked around downtown until we got to a park that had a stage at the front. The park was empty, minus a few people, but was lit beautifully by an overhead art display. He then said to me “if this was your stage and you could do anything you wanted as your performance, what would you do?” I was in a silly mood, so I told him that I would pretend to be a ballerina to which he responded “Show me!”. So I twirled around in a circle, undeniably giving my best ballet performance. When I turned around he told me that I hadn’t really put any effort into it and for me to close my eyes and imagine I was really the ballerina and to do it again… and again! Like I said, I was in a good mood so I obliged. When I opened my eyes after my third twirl, he was down on one knee with tears in his eyes telling me all those things every girl wants to hear! I screamed yes (cause I’ve been waiting on this for a looooong time!!!), and we were officially engaged. We’re so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. Can’t wait to see you at the wedding!!!
