The Real Adventure Begins...
We were both raised in Kern County and both moved to the Bay Area after high school, although it took us many years to know about each other’s existence. Curiously enough, when Janeth moved to the Bay in 2009, Eriberto was making his way back to the Central Valley. It’s funny how the universe conspires to bring two people together. In our case – it was only a matter of ‘when.’
Janeth woke up to an eager Eriberto the morning of New Year’s Eve 2021. He was standing by the door, excited to go on one final hike before the year ended. Janeth, still groggy, hesitantly agreed to drive all the way to the Tehachapi mountains. Janeth: “When we finally arrived, the weather took a turn for the worst. It started to drizzle, the fog got dense, and the wind turned our umbrellas inside out. Still, instead of getting into our cars to drive back home like any normal person would, Eriberto insisted we finish our hike.” Eriberto had other plans. Eriberto: “After hiking the sacred grounds at La Paz for a few hours, we made our way to a beautiful water fountain by the entrance. We stood there in the freezing rain under our umbrellas. I took one final breath, lowered myself, and kneeled with Janeth’s engagement ring on hand. She said, “YES” -- this was the happiest day of my life. In that moment, both of our immediate family members, about 30 of them, came out of their hiding spot and rushed to congratulate us.” We can’t wait to celebrate our wedding day with you!
