JEFFREY: We first met at a summer youth conference in 2008. I had been watching her throughout the conference but I made no attempt to talk to her. On the morning of the last day, I ran into her at the waffle maker station during breakfast and she offered to make me some. I was touched by her kind gesture. After the conference, I ran into her again and tried to spark a few words. I was very surprised when her response seemed standoffish. A month or so later, I reached out to a mutual friend for help with a project. Unfortunately, she was heading out of the country but suggested that I connect with Janet. Upon agreeing, I spent the next few months breaking grounds with Janet because she was still pretty harsh with me. We became best friends and grew together in our passion to serve God. We eventually dated a couple of years after and then parted ways. In March of 2018, the same mutual friend reconnected us again. We fell right in sync and after prayers and clarity from the Lord, I knew that she was the one. JANET: I met Jeff at a youth camp in 2008 and I was very shy then. I did not know what came over me but I was making waffles and I offered to make him some. Of course I was not initiating friendship as I was uncomfortable with male friendships then. After some time, our mutual friend, aka, the maid of honor, contacted me and informed me that Jeff wanted to do ministry with someone in the area and she was recommending me. I hesitated but eventually said yes and we became friends. After dating for sometime, we parted ways. However, I noticed that Jeff remained the giant of a man that no man could measure up to. So with encouragement from our mutual friend again, i decided to go back home to Jeff because he had always felt like home. Soon after reuniting, we ensured our friendship and prayed about the future to know if God had plans for us to be together. He did and I said yes.
JANET: I knew he was going to pop the question any day. I just did not know when. But i definitely ruled out the one possibility. Jeff invited me to Thanksgiving with his family at his brother's house in Minnesota. I stayed with my friends and they parted to go have Thanksgiving with their family. I waited for Jeff to pick me up and we went over to his brother's for Thanksgiving. After all the family had arrived, his brother came up to me and some of Jeff's friends and offered to give us a tour of the house. Since I had been there before, i told him that I had already seen it. But he insisted and I figured it was not becoming to be arguing with my brother in-law so I obliged. He showed us around and made our way to the basement. I saw that people had gathered. Then I saw Jeff kneeling down in a heart shape drawing on the floor with petals holding a bouquet of roses. I heard one of our songs being sung in the background and saw my friends who had left for their families house. Then it all sunk in. So I turned to my love and started screaming because I finally connected the dots. I had a brain fart and thought his kneeling was part of the tour. So I joined him in the circle and he gave a wonderful love speech. And I said a big fat YES. JEFFREY: With the help of my friends, family, and Janet's friends, I hatched up a brilliant plan to propose to Janet. She is not easy to surprise but let's just say that I worked hard to pull some romantic moves. On Thanksgiving night of 2018, I asked Janet to marry me in front of friends and family. SHE SAID YES, Y'ALL! We thank God for the opportunity to celebrate this occasion with each of you!!!
