During the winter semester of 2009, Bo and Janet took the same class together. Bo at first thought of her as a nerdy girl with braces who came to class with a scarf covering half of her face. Janet noticed him because he was the only Asian guy in the class. After the semester was over, they ran into each other at a mutual friend’s party. Bo saw Janet all dolled up in an off-shoulder sweater, mini skirt, and makeup which sparked his interest.

Janet had a clue that Bo was going to propose her after dating for five years. But she told him not to propose during their Europe trip because she did not want to worry about losing her ring. He said the ring was not ready anyway. After they checked in to the hotel, he wore a suit, saying he wanted to take some nice Instagram pictures. She changed her clothes from casual Lululemon clothes to a dress. That afternoon he said, “Will you marry me?” at Bled island, Slovenia.
