Janet and Peter first met 7 years ago on wingman/wingwoman duties for their best friends, Lily and Tony. Love at first site? It was a 200% NO. They didn't cross paths again until duties called once again, but this time, for Lily and Tony's WEDDING! Unfortunately, the timing was not quite right yet. A year passed, and on a sunny Memorial Day in 2017, fate brought Janet and Peter together once more. They slowly got to know each other that summer as they explored new adventures in their beloved city. Their story, quite literally, rose to a new level when Peter took Janet on a sunrise hike, and asked her to be his girlfriend atop an Arizona mountain. They created so many new memories, and traveled to many unforgettable places. Keeping Peter on his toes, Janet declared him "Cat Dad" when she brought home a baby kitten she found at work. They welcomed Simby with open arms as he brought joy, laughter, and lots more snuggles to their lives. Their adventures continue to grow here in Chicago; whether it involves exploring different neighborhoods, going out to new restaurants, or their favorite- cooking together and coming up with new recipes (and stellar dance moves).
On June 22, 2019, a breezy and sunny day in the summer, Peter surprised Janet with a picnic date near Montrose Beach. The day didn't end there as Peter kept his lips shut about where they were going next. After a quick drive south on Lake Shore Drive, they ended up in Jackson Park. They walked around the Museum of Science and Industry until they got to the historic Japanese Garden on the Wooded Island. While strolling through the garden, Peter gave Janet a brief histroy lesson on the significance of it until they reached the footbridge, where Peter was able to catch Janet off-guard and pull out the ring before she turned around and ask her to marry him.
