Q: What kind of weather should I be prepared for? A: There is always a chance it will be rainy and cold. Make sure to bring layers. Q: How cold will it be? A: The temperature will likely vary from 35-60 degrees. Q: Do I need a National Parks pass to visit McCarthy? A: No. Q: Is there a store in McCarthy? A: There is a small general store with limited items. Make sure to pick up anything you need in Anchorage beforehand. Q: Will the sun stay out all night? A: The sun will set around 9 and there will be a couple hours of dusk afterward. Q: Should I be worried about flat tires? A: It is good to be prepared for a flat. Ask your rental company about traveling with a full sized spare. Tire repair services are available in McCarthy. Q: Is there cell reception? A: There is limited reception in McCarthy, Verizon has the most coverage. Q: Will there be bears? A: Probably. Keep an eye out for bears, moose, bison, and lynx on the McCarthy road. Q: How accessible is McCarthy? A: The roads/sidewalks in McCarthy are all gravel. However, there are ramps for business access. The Kennecott site is paved and wheelchair accessible. Additionally, there are ample shuttles commuting between the footbridge (end of the road), McCarthy, and Kennecott. If needed, there will be transportation available to reach the location of the ceremony. Q: I won't be able to make it to Alaska, but will be attending the ceremony in La Crosse. How do I RSVP? A: Respond "Will Not Attend" to ceremony. Then, click next and respond "Will Attend" to reception. Q: Isn't there a reality show about this place?
