I wanted to plan my proposal to Nell in a way that would get her family involved while also appreciating special moments of our relationship. With help from her family, I set up an elaborate scavenger hunt starting at our first date in Long Beach. At each stop, she was met by a family member to give her the next clue. The last location ended at the proposal spot, which was an amazing resort in Rancho Palos Verdes. I proposed at sunset on a cliffside overlooking the ocean while her family (and two of my family members) watched from a hill above. As soon as she said yes, we were met with loud cheers that could be heard from a mile away. One by one everyone rushed down to congratulate us. It was great. What a day! I've never been so nervous in my entire life!
We were in Vegas with Somalys family and It was the perfect time to pop the question with them around. I had Somaly drive her cousin to the store to pick up a couple things and to buy time. With the help from her brother and cousins, we transformed the backyard with candles. It was a mixture of Love Actually and The Office… if you’ve watched that, you know what i mean. Each family member held up a sign reading why i love her so much as she made her way through the yard to where i was standing. It was the perfect end to the year. Dual proposals are the way to go!
