(From Janelle's perspective)- We met through mutual friends/neighbors. My grandma, who I was living with at the time, needed some help moving things in the apartment around. Alan happened to be around at the time, and was more than willing to help. At the time, I was 16 in high school, and Alan was 19, and about halfway through college. Needless to say, we both looked pretty rough at first sight. We hung out together with those mutual friends a couple times, until he decided to ask for my number, and invite me to his church's annual Christmas party. I was going to turn him down, but said friend wouldn't let me, and helped me get dressed up! From then on, it was history. There's been a lot ups and downs since December 13, 2014 and we've been on this wild rollercoaster of a life together, but we can both agree that we wouldn't change it for the world.
Alan told me his mom had a voucher for Pane Vino on the Ave, that expired that day so she was offering us to use it, which wasn't anything out of the ordinary. I got home from work that night, got ready, and we went to have dinner. Shortly after eating, Alan went to the bathroom. When he came back, he happened to "drop his phone". I offered to pick it up for him, but he quickly said "No, I've got it". (HE DROPPED THE RING!) This was when he started to do the whole cheesy speech (lol, I'll spare the details). He stood up, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. I cannot really tell you what happened after that since I sort of blacked out, but I know I at least said yes (obviously!!!) Everyone at the establishment started cheering, and it was then that I noticed the hostess filming the whole thing. Also, the owner of the restaurant happened to be there, and came over to congratulate us. It was an amazing night!
