We met through a matchmaking service! Jane's matchmaker said "I have someone I think you should meet - she's a 5'9 doctor who loves wineries, travel and hiking." At the time, Alana was having a lovely time in her dating life while Jane was publishing papers about how awful dating was! Our first date was via Zoom because Alana was living in Bethlehem, PA at that time and Jane was living in New Haven, CT. Jane will happily share all the details if you ask...
New York City! We met at the Brooklyn Museum on a Friday afternoon and walked around for 20 minutes before it was closed for the evening. It was great, and we even saw the special exhibit for free since time was so short. We then went to a cute little speak easy where we talked for a couple hours before going to dinner. We had a tasty Thai meal where Jane found an industrial sized staple in her food, unfortunately. Silver lining - no injuries occurred, and this resulted in our meal and drinks being comped! Alana shared sake with the table next to us because the owner of the restaurant showered us with drinks. We went back to the speak easy where the bartender recognized us and offered us more drinks, which we politely declined, just rounding out the night with a non-alcoholic nightcap, since we had free flowing drinks at dinner! While we continued to chat, heavy snowfall started outside, and a group of people entered the bar and assembled near closing time. One person was carrying a small dog in his arms (inexplicably) and the group spontaneously broke into song - they were carolers! Jane wondered if Alana had arranged this, but it was just serendipitous and perfect timing. The date lasted nearly 12 hrs!
Again, you can ask her directly...[Alana] - I do! I just need a tour guide :). We have done one hike with a few friends so far.
Her dimples, but also her unflappable disposition. I wasn't sure if she was interested in a second date after our zoom, and was incredibly nervous the entire time! She told me to "have a nice weekend" at the end of our call. She made up for this by initiating the second date less than a week later, and being the most consistent, dependable and devoted partner ever since!
Her wonderful and beautiful eyes! I thought she was very smart, interesting and super easy to talk to. We had a flowing conversation during our zoom date. I had no idea she was put off by how I ended our zoom date! I was visiting friends, and we had prior dinner plans so I wanted to be respectful of that. I shared this with my matchmaker but sounds like the ball was dropped in the communication. I was simply following the matchmaker rules - don't be too pushy. I had no doubt that Jane would want to see me again; the feeling was mutual.
