We met in 2001 at Faith Temple Apostolic Church at 19 yrs old. I was in the choir, our organ player had moved out of town and the church was searching for a new organ player. Someone introduced Sam, and he became our new organ player. Now, I have never dated anyone at that church because i was born and raised there and we were all family so when I heard we had a new dude coming in, I was like "OKAY! let me check him out" (jokingly). We went to choir rehearsal that Tues night and I was immediately not interested, not because of him, but because all of the girls were throwing themselves at him so I wanted no parts, back then we called it (not about to be one of the girls that sweat him). We got through our 1st choir rehearsal with "new dude", and being that my aunt was the choir director and had to consistantly be in communication with the band etc, and she drove us to church we ended up being around Sammie alot. He was alot of fun and kept us laughing We were preparing to sing at another church and Sammie had a big afro at the time so my aunt told him that he needed to get his hair braided by me before the service, I was confused like what?? You just gonna volunteer me? Sammie was all for it, he said "Oh word, you braid" I said yes, so he set his appointment, I braided his hair and he loved it. After that day, we talked on the phone everyday/night, back then we had pagers and house phones, so we were on our parents phones all night. We always agreed to be just friends nothing more nothing less, but that changed quickly. It began to get to the point that we could not go a day without speaking to, or seeing each other. We both felt it. Sammie used to play his keyboard and sing to me on the phone all the time, our favorite song at the time was Jagged Edge" Lets get married". Sammie was very different from other guys, he was always upfront and straight forward, never sugar coated anything, till this day he is like that, and I have always admired that about him, ALWAYS been a man of his word. One day we were on the phone, and he told me how much he was "feeling me" and that he really liked me, and he wanted to know if I would be his GIRLFRIEND, I said yes and 2 yrs later on August 15th 2003, he made me his WIFE. Here we are today 20 years later still married, still in love, still growing ,with our 4 beautiful children Synceire, Symphani, Syalah, and Syvonna. We had many challenges, it wasn't easy, but we are still here. We thank God everyday that he chose us for this journey. I could not imagine doing life with anyone else. We look forward to the next 20+ years together.
