In June of 2018, Jane was out for her friend Imani's birthday. Although Jane swore she would never use a dating app to find love, Imani convinced her to download Bumble (which she had to do because the birthday girl said so). A couple of weeks later, Jane matched with "Tarkington", a PhD candidate at Ohio State. Although she was skeptical of going out with a stranger, Tarkington from Ohio State was pretty easy to verify, given his unique name. On their first date at Balboa in Grandview, sparks flew and conversation flowed. When the server asked if they wanted another drink and Tark said yes, Jane knew she'd won him over. Tark still believes that his cat, Nighthawk, ultimately won Jane over. It was her first and only Bumble date (same for Tark), and the rest is history.
