FAQs

Question

When is the wedding?

Answer

Our wedding will take place on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the Detroit Yacht Club on Bell Isle. We’d also love for you to join us at our Welcome Party on Friday, October 16 in Downtown Detroit—everyone is invited!

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

We have a room block at The Henry, Autograph Collection in Dearborn. We chose this hotel for its close proximity to the airport, complimentary parking, and convenient location that avoids Detroit Marathon traffic on Sunday. If you’d prefer, there are also many great hotel options in Downtown Detroit. If you’re planning to stay in an Airbnb, we recommend a few great areas depending on the experience you’re looking for. Downtown Detroit is the most convenient option, with easy access to our events, restaurants, and activities. For a quieter, more residential feel, Indian Village and Grosse Pointe offer beautiful large homes. West Dearborn is another great choice, known for its fantastic food and comfortable, laid-back atmosphere.

Question

Will transportation be provided for the wedding?

Answer

Yes! We’ll be offering complimentary shuttles between The Henry and the Detroit Yacht Club on the wedding day.

Question

Are children invited?

Answer

We wish we could celebrate with everyone! Within our capacity constraints, we are able to include a few children. Please check your invitation for who is included in your party.

Question

What’s the dress code?

Answer

Our dress code is Indian or American Formal. Indian: Sarees, lehengas, anarkalis, or sherwanis/kurta sets. American: Formal attire, such as long or midi dresses, or suits and ties. Think elegant, colorful, and celebratory.

Question

Do I need to wear Indian clothing?

Answer

Not at all! We’ll have guests in both American and Indian formal attire, so feel free to wear whichever style you’re most comfortable in.

Question

I want to wear Indian clothing but don’t own any. Where should I shop?

Answer

If you’d like to wear Indian attire, we recommend shopping online at Lashkaraa and KALKI Fashion. Both offer a wide range of beautiful, wedding-ready outfits and are great options for first-time buyers. https://www.lashkaraa.com/ https://www.kalkifashion.com/

Question

what is a baraat?

Answer

A baraat is the joyous wedding procession where the groom arrives surrounded by family and friends, dancing and celebrating to lively music. It will immediately precede the ceremony, and everyone is encouraged to join the fun!
