They say love finds you when you least expect it—and that’s exactly how it happened for us. We met in January of 2021 at college, completely by chance. Jane was invited over to Payton's house for a bonfire by his roommate at the time. Across the room, we spotted each other. Not in some dramatic, slow-motion way—but in that quiet, unmistakable moment when something just clicks. A shared smile led to a casual conversation, which somehow turned into a game of cards. What started as a lighthearted competition quickly turned emotional when jokingly Payton told Jane she “was awful at cards.” It wasn’t his finest moment—but to his credit, Jane had a few too many drink and is a little sensitive. (most be that only child syndrome) Luckily, Payton apologized (more than once), and somehow, instead of staying offended, she gave him a second chance. That was the beginning of something neither of us saw coming. We became friends. The kind of friends who stay up talking for hours, who laugh until we cry (in a good way this time), and who just feel like home to each other. Over time, that friendship blossomed into love. A love that’s built on trust, respect, shared dreams, and a deep appreciation for each other’s quirks (yes, even the competitive ones). We’ve been through highs and lows, victories and rematches, and through it all, we’ve become each other’s best friend and greatest teammate. Falling in love with each other was the easiest, most natural thing in the world. It felt like coming home.
