On September 7th 2016, Mike and Jane met for a drink and first date after reconnecting on Tinder. (Yes, Tinder. Ha!) Jane had gone on a handful of not so great first dates and was ready to take a break from Tinder. However, Mike popped up and led with the line of "Hey! I think we've met before." Skeptical at first, Jane didn't believe him. But sure enough, they had indeed met before, four years prior, playing darts at Grandma's Saloon Up Bar. Nothing had come of their dart game in 2012. But quickly they realized that Mike was still in Jane's phone as 'Mike Darts' and had left a memorable impression. A first date was set for Wednesday, September 7th, 2016 after Jane was done working the Glensheen event, Chef in the Garden. They met at a favorite place of both of theirs, Sir Benedicts in Duluth. They hit it off. Each ordered a Castle Danger Cream Ale without knowing the other did too. They had a blast talking and quickly found out that Castle Danger beer wasn't their only shared interest. They even made plans to create an imaginary band called the Red Tag Clan (after shared childhood stories of Beanie Babies and their love of Led Zeppelin.) where Jane would play the kazoo due to her lack of musical talent. On Jane's birthday, March 28, 2019, Jane and Mike went back to Sir Ben's, after a birthday dinner at Va Bene to try and get 'their table' and order a couple Castle Danger Cream Ales. Little did Jane know, that this trip to Sir Ben's would be one to remember forever. Mike proposed at the same table where they had their first date.
