On a humid night in July of 2016, Jando first met the woman he would one day call his wife. It was the wedding of a mutual friend where the two first laid eyes on each other. Jando immediately felt an attraction towards Nina; however, it wasn’t all love at first sight. At the time, Nina was living in Colorado, and to make things more complicated, she was seeing another person. To Nina, this was just another goofy guy friend, but Jando knew that this girl was one that was worth waiting for. And so he waited, periodically creeping on her Facebook in search of any updates. And then one day, it finally happened; Nina’s relationship status updated to “Single”, and she was moving back to Chicago. But Jando wasn’t the only one who had eyes set on Nina, and Nina wasn’t set on being with anyone. Jando knew he had to be strategic with his advances, tactifully biding his time and awaiting the opportune moment to make a move. Then on Cinco de Mayo 2017, fueled by new found courage from Don Julio, Jando laid on the charm. Nina, despite having a bit too much tequila of her own, knew exactly what was happening and let the flirtation begin. She was not fully ready to make it into anything more though, so when Jando started asking her to dinner, she began to pull back. Eventually, she ran out of excuses not to go and figured, what harm could one dinner do? Little did she know, it would be the beginning of so much more. She could now see just how kind and caring he was and that one date gave way to what would go on to be nearly five years of laughter, love, and the addition of a furry family member, Walter. On their 4 year anniversary, while on a sunrise hike in Sedona, Jando popped the question. Nina, unwaveringly, said yes! They both knew the last four years together had been great, but a lifetime together would be so much better. Now, they can’t believe their wedding is finally almost here, and can’t wait for all of you to share in the celebration!
