It was February 16, 2024 when I had planned a trip to Bethel Maine to stay in a cabin for our annual winter getaway. This was a tradition for us ever since we started dating in December of 2020. The start of our weekend was filled with travel and sightseeing around the area. That night we got dinner at a local restaurant and played board games to end the night. The next morning Jesse had a fun day planned for us. We got coffee at a local coffee shop, ate breakfast and headed out for a hike. The hike was beautiful, the trail was covered in snow and you could see the snowy mountaintops through the treeline. When we returned back to our cabin Jesse told me he had found a scenic lookout that he wanted to take me to that has the best views in New England. We drove 45 minutes to the lookout spot but when we got there the parking lot was unplowed with at least 2 feet of snow. Me being completely unaware of what Jesse had planned I said “It's okay we can just look at it from inside the car”. He kept driving and down the road we found another lookout spot that was plowed out luckily. We got out and the view was stunning, we made it there around sunset which made the view even more breathtaking. It was so cold but Jesse was adamant about us getting a picture in front of the view. It was 0 degrees so I was protesting that it wasn't that important not knowing what he was trying to accomplish. He set the camera up on the hood of my car in a shoe and we stood on the snowbank for the photo which was secretly a video. As i'm looking out at the sunset waiting for him to say we can get out of the frigid weather, he says to me “You know what would make this even better?” and before I could respond he dropped down on one knee and said “Will you marry me?” Through my excitement and tears I responded “YES!” It was everything I could have dreamed of. Just me and him alone soaking up the best moment of our lives. We got back in the car and made the drive to a restaurant to celebrate, just us two. That 45 minute drive to dinner there was no cellphone reception so we were really able to soak it all in before telling our families. After dinner we headed back to the cabin where we finally facetimed our families and shared the amazing news. The next day we checked out as fiances and headed back home to see our families. It was the most amazing weekend, Jesse made it unforgettable and I will always cherish the memories we made together that weekend. He is everything I've ever prayed for and I feel so blessed to call him my fiance and soon to be husband. We can't wait to have all of you come celebrate our love on our special day!
