It all began in Washington, D.C. We were young guppies (re: interns) just trying to thrive in our nation’s capital. Part of surviving as an intern is vetting out a solid group to scavenge receptions with. It was our 2nd or 3rd week on the job and I went with my room mates to the Vegas reception. Upon arriving, I spot Alex, a mutual friend of ours standing beside a fetching young man. To hear Jonathan tell it, when I walked in the room he immediately turned to Alex and said, and I quote, "Dude, that is the most beautiful girl I have ever seen." Now, I wasn’t part of that conversation, but it is hotly debated between Jonathan and I whether this was the story he and Alex made a blood pact to tell time and time again to write into our saga a more movie-esque story than “We met, exchanged nicesties, became the best of friends and the rest is history.” But I choose to live in the world where it’s true. We didn’t officially start dating until months later after hours on the phone solving the world’s problems, laughing until our sides hurt and a night at the Lincoln Memorial. We stayed up ‘til dawn broke over the horizon to join “The Sunrise Club”. Flash forward two years and many laugh lines later, he got on one knee at that exact spot, confessed that was the night he started falling in love with me and asked me the easiest question my indecisive self has ever had to answer: “Will you be my forever Taco Tuesday date?” (It was more polished than that, but honestly it would not have shocked me if that was the rhetoric he went with. We don’t mess around when it comes to tacos and cheese dip.) He is the most selfless person I have ever met and he inspires me every day to be a good person to everyone that crosses my path. I couldn’t have found a better partner or superhuman to do life with if I searched a trillion years and all the infinite Marvel galaxies. We are so excited to ceremoniously bind our souls for eternity.
