When should I visit the Park?

Answer

Mt. Rainier National Park is very popular and July is in the high-season. If you plan to enter the park it would be best to go as early in the day as possible, as it can get very crowded. The closest entrance is Nisqually/Paradise which does not currently require a reservation, but it does require a national park pass.

Do I need any special gear for hiking?

Answer

Most trails will not require any special gear and typically running shoes with good tread should suffice. If you want to hike on Rainier above Paradise you will encounter snow, and hiking boots or micro spikes would be helpful.
