How We Met (Bride's Version)

We Found Love In a Hopeless Place.

We arrived at boot camp a day apart, (March 19th and 20th) but we started talking one day in the galley that was in another ship (we didn't have to be in a height line where he was at the back and I was in the middle.) when they decided to divvy out the leftovers of lasagna, brisket, and breadsticks. I helped myself to all of the seconds. (Don't tell our RDCs we were talking in the galley.) I didn't even notice that we had been going to church together every Sunday since boot camp started, minus one Sunday when he didn't feel the best. Mind you, they separated the males and females, and we are supposed to have this "thousand-yard stare" at all times, so I never saw him at the back of the line. But that day in the galley changed everything for me, and all I knew was that I liked talking to this person, he was handsome (with a mustache lol), he was smart, and he was a Gemini too. After that, every chance I could, I talked to him. I talked to him so much that I helped us get a street hit because I was talking to him in the p-way, while waddling up 3 flights of stairs after chow. Luckily, when they asked why he was talking and smiling in the p-way, he said I don’t know, which he tends to do when you apply too much pressure lol. I even went so far as being a road guard (holding the door for the ENTIRE division), knowing that I was hungry, and I didn't skip the line when the whole division was in the galley (even though RPOC, AROC, and row guards can), I stayed to the back to sit by him, and I couldn't even tell you if we sat by each other that day ironically.

How We Met (Groom's Version)

Well, to start, the first time I noticed you was at the beginning of boot camp on our way to gospel, and she was the element leader. I noticed her hair, and it was loced, but you could barely tell. She didn't immediately attract me until one day, probably around week 5, when in ship 12, she sat next to me and started talking about her life. She told me how old she was, that she had a son, and that she wanted to marry someone in the military. I also noticed she had a lot of food on her plate and was very happy that the food was good. So good that she asked for more brisket when the gentleman came would asked if anybody wanted more. Anyways, that was the first interaction that made me interested in talking to her more and more, so in one of our classes together, I had to say something. I jokingly (but seriously) told her that I wanted to marry her and that imma get to know her more. So I did, and at first she didn't take me seriously, and truthfully, it was hard for me to take myself seriously. But after some time, I eventually did start to like her and wanted her to take me seriously, so she became my main focus. And it only took one conversation about how I was going to put in more effort, if only she took me seriously. And I think that finally reeled her in. So we finally started speaking more and more and trying our hardest to sit next to each other at every chow we had throughout the day. Mostly every day, we would talk, even if it was just a couple of words, and just try and get to know each other.
