Like some, our story starts in High School. Two very shy, awkward kids, hanging out with the same group of friends. As luck would have it, we would end up working at the same restaurant as our respective first jobs. Not one to miss an opportunity, I used my position as "host trainer" to build an image of confidence such that she had to say yes to a date. It was pretty short lived after that, as neither of us were nearly prepared to find our forever person at such a young age. In fact, I am pretty sure we didn't say 10 more sentences to each other through graduation. Young, and stubborn. And then no direct contact for 20 years as we rambled through our separate lives, finding and losing love, having kids, learning more about ourselves than seemed necessary....then 9/29/2017. As one approaches their 20 year reunion, they reflect on all that has changed. Both within themselves, and who they might see that evening. When I saw the bright blue dress, and eager shining eyes bounding up to me exclaiming "oh my gosh! I'm so glad you're here, let's catch up later..." somehow I knew that something had changed. Then we careened through the festivities of the night, seeing each other occasionally, but never quite finding the opportunity to chat. All it took was a lazy Uber driver, avoiding his last call of the night, for this former "host trainer" to again capitalize on his position to offer her a ride to her hotel. Innocent as it was, the following week was a coffee, which ended with the the proclamation "I'm going to kiss you now". Then, something in both of us, nearly at the same time, said "okay, we are ready now." And so here we are, almost 3 years later, excitedly planning forever together. I'm going to marry you now :)
