Growing up Janae and Colleen both found a love for the game of soccer. In Austin, Janae flourished with a whistle and flags, while in Dallas, Colleen wore cleats and gloves through the ranks. It would take time, lots of red and yellow cards, and many more sprints for the sport to bring them together. In 2015, soccer would match these two together in Austin, Texas.

After 90 minutes and lots of added stoppage time (5 years), the result of the match was pure gold...and a lot of sparkle. Colleen proposed to Janae in Fredericksburg, Texas on March 15, 2021 during a wine tasting gifted by friends. While sitting on a covered patio Colleen handed a letter to Janae for her to read. The Letter: Handwritten letter from Colleen to Janae expressing love, joy, happiness, and a few inside jokes. Janae thought it was a gesture to show Colleen's love for their anniversary. Colleen had big, big plans. The Result: Once Janae got to the end of the letter & finally realized what was happening she could not stop the happy tears from flowing. Janae nodded yes emphatically to Colleen's question and now they are excited to share their love and excitement with their family and friends. No one was given a card and no VAR was used.
