Travel Note
Due to the current pandemic situation, you will need to provide proof of vaccination or recovery when entering venues, restaurants, bars, etc. everywhere in Belgium. If you have been vaccinated in an EU country, you can show the QR Code in the Covid app of your country. If you have been vaccinated outside the EU (e.g. in the US), you can fill out the CST certificate through the link, download the CovidSafeBE app and receive a valid QR code for up to a month there. Please note that in addition you will have to carry your vaccination certificate with you, to verify the CST. These precautions are due to the high amount of falsified vaccination records. If you have any questions let us know!
Flight
The Brussels Airport is located in Zaventem, right outside of Brussels. This is the most convenient airport for you to fly to, since it is just a quick 15 minute car ride or 20-30 minute bus/train ride from the Brussels center.
House Or Rental
Brussels hotel prices fluctuate a lot, depending on the time of the year. However, you should be able to find a nice and inexpensive hotel room, if you book a little bit in advance. You can find most hotels and offers on pages like https://www.booking.com. Another option of course is Airbnb (www.airbnb.com), which is widely available in Brussels. This might be a good option if you are trying to save money and looking to share an accommodation with other wedding guests. The wedding will take place in the St Anthony of Padua church in the neighbourhood of "Etterbeek", so if you want to be close to the venue this would be a nice neighbourhood to stay in. The most convenient neighbourhoods for your stay and tourism are: Etterbeek, Ixelles (European District) and the city center. Avoid Molenbeek and the area around the North and South Station (Gare du Nord / Gare du Midi).
Travel Note
If you are looking for an alternative to public transport, Uber is widely available in Brussels and generally less expensive than taxis. You can download the app in the Google and Apple App store.
Travel Note
Getting around in Brussels can sometimes be a little confusing, since we have trams, metros and busses. Google Maps is your best friend, since it shows you the best connections. All services are operated by the same company, so if you get a ticket at one of the many ticket machines at the stops, you will be able to switch between trams, metros and busses along your journey. You will have to check in and out of most tram/metro stops and into all busses with the paper ticket, which contains a chip. Depending on how long you are staying in Brussels, you might want to check out the day or week passes for public transport at: https://www.stib-mivb.be/article.html?_guid=80bb5be7-429c-3810-a795-dfe836d62585&l=en
