We're getting Married!

Let’s start in the year 1992, Jana 5 years old and Ryan 18, a time you would ask Jana who her boyfriend was, the answer “Ryan Massey”. You see, Jana’s dad, Roy would put on team roping schools where Ryan and his brother would go to rope. On the way, Ryan would stop at the 24 Mart to get some candy to take to Jana. She was his little buddy and he was her childhood crush, UNTIL one day Ryan showed up with his high school girl friend, Amber. That day was the end of Jana’s childhood crush. Standing on the head gate of the roping pen, Ryan walked up with Amber behind the announcers stand, jealousy set in, and it was over. Rewind a few years… and let’s introduce Rusty to this story. Rusty is “like” the first born child to Roy, Jana’s dad. Not literally but Jana’s parents took Rusty all over the country to rodeos and to this day they talk on the phone more than Roy does with his own kids. Around ‘97 Ryan and Rusty made friends, a friendship that was wild and completely carefree. This was the start of the rollercoaster ride of Ryan’s life which lead him to a few years of chaos. In ‘99, Ryan had his first born daughter, McKenzie and later in ‘09 had his second daughter, Henlee. In the summer of ‘10, Jana, runs into Ryan and Henlee at the Wills Point Rodeo. Just breaking up with her boyfriend, quitting softball, transferring colleges, she had no idea where life was leading her. Ryan sat and talked for hours with Jana at that rodeo, a foreshadowing event no one even noticed. At the end of the night, Jana’s mom mentioned “you have always had a special place in his heart.” On Sept. 12, 2013, Ryan had a major accident, he was hit by a car where he lost the lower part of his left leg, broke his hip and arm. Jana’s friend Kyle sent a screen shot detailing the accident, 5 days later Jana sent Ryan a message. “Ryan, you are in my prayers. I am so glad you are alive. Look forward to seeing you at church!” That message was the beginning of the next chapter of their story! While Ryan was laying in the hospital, his high school girlfriends parents visited, bringing him an iPad to occupy his time. Depressed and scrolling through messages, refusing to open and read, he sees the message from Jana, decides to open it and respond. A few weeks later after reading Ryan’s post about his accident, Jana reaches out again, reminding him of her childhood crush, being heartbroken and jealous when he brought his “real’ girlfriend around, encourages him to see all the great things ahead, and reminds him of his amazing family and support system. Weeks go by, Rusty takes Ryan to church, Ryan and Jana see each other in passing until one Sunday, Ryan calls Jana and says “I need a ride, can you take me to church.” She did, later to find out he canceled his ride with Rusty. Months go by Jana becomes a true friend in Ryan’s life, she knows he needs more help therefore encouraging him to go to rehab. On Dec. 8th, Rusty, Jana, and Ryan’s parents drop him off at rehab. It was that day Jana realized how much she meant to Ryan, as they left he gave her a hug and asked if she was going to be around when he completed the program. 30 days pass, Ryan wants to come home, Jana pushes for 60, 60 days pass Ryan tries to come home, Jana pushes for 90 and to complete the program. March of 2014 Ryan completes rehab. As the months pass Jana and Ryan friendship grows stronger, in July ‘14, McKenzie and Jana go on vacation to Hawaii, on that trip she realizes she misses Ryan and there might be more than just friendship feelings. There is no official date of when their relationship began, in reality, it has just been one day at a time. There have been many big life moments these two have enjoyed together over the years, all that has gone by so fast. Fast forward to March 4, 2022, Ryan pulled off the biggest grand gesture of his life, in front of 400 people got down on one knee and proposed. A plan he had many times before but in perfect timing surprised Jana beyond her dreams.
