In November of 2020 David hauled Jan’s 3 yo Reining horse (Tricks) to Oklahoma for the NRHA Futurity. During the Futurity, Jan’s trainer (Kain) and David’s assistant (Emily) had a little too much free time on their hands and started discussing Jan’s interest in David. They collectively agreed it would be in David’s best interest for him to become privy to this information. Once home from Oklahoma, David emailed Jan an invoice for Tricks then quickly followed that email up with a phone call the very next day. In this phone call he invited Jan out to his ranch to bring cash for the haul and possibly grab a drink after. On December 30th Jan swung by his ranch with the payment but awkwardly declined the drink after. As she drove away she had a change of heart and stopped in to The Old Corner, sending him a picture upon her arrival. David walked through the doors of The Old Corner 5 minutes later (around 4:00 pm). The two talked/laughed/played darts/danced/ and closed down The Old Corner 8.5 hours later with no clue as to where the time had gone! The next day they set up their first date to be on January 1st and they have been inseparable ever since!
