November 22nd, 2025 started out like any other day. A tall man with beautiful green eyes walked into Amigos Bakery, craving a bowl of menudo. About ten minutes later, I stepped through the same door, planning to grab a chile relleno burrito and be on my way. But something happened. Our eyes met for just a moment…long enough for him to smile, long enough for my breath to catch as I quickly looked away. I fidgeted in line, wanting to look again, but unable to do so without being noticed. I placed my order and kept my eyes down, thinking that it was just one shared moment. Except it wasn’t. I waited for my food, acutely aware that this tall man was sitting close by. Suddenly, he asked me a question. Simple enough, but somehow it turned into me sitting down with him, turning minutes into almost an hour as we talked and laughed. By the time we walked out of Amigos, we both knew we hadn’t just shared a table… we had just had our first date. He offered me his number, saying he’d love to talk again, but only if I wanted to. I think I played it cool. I made him wait a whole two hours before I sent him my first text. And somehow, that small, ordinary day turned into this.
