Our Engagement Story

12.07.2025

I need to start by saying this is without a doubt my new favorite story, even though almost nothing went to plan. Almost two weeks prior, Jamison sends me a link to a Christmas Botanical Garden in Sarasota saying "I wanna take you to this." So, we book it for the day before our cruise. Fast forward to the day of and it is POURING rain. We finally decide to cancel, and I'm fully prepared to stay home and finish packing for our cruise. Jamison, on the other hand, says absolutely not we are still doing something fun tonight. A little later he says he found something indoors and christmassy: The Florida Aquarium. But we have to leave right now. Mind you, I looked homeless and this man literally told me to brush my hair. We get there right before closing and spend most of the time wandering around the aquarium while I repeatedly mention leaving and he repeatedly says he wants to "see the sharks". We had already "seen the sharks" like 14 times. At this point, Jamison is sitting and watching the sharks and I get up to go to the bathroom. Except when I come out the aquarium has closed and workers are escorting everyone out. They let me back into the tunnel to the sharks and Jamison is standing there with three workers in an empty room and I thought we were in trouble... because they were closed. Instead, he asks for a picture of me in front of the sharks. Then he gets a picture. Then a worker very kindly starts taking photos of us together. Jamison starts rummaging with his jacket and gets down on one knee. Naturally, I immediately lose my sh!t and yell " I f!cking knew it" Was it messy? Yes. Did anything go according to plan? Absolutely not. Was it perfect in every way? 1000% yes! Also... if rain on your wedding day is good luck, then honey... a tsunami on your proposal day must mean we are set for life!
