Jess and JD met at the very beginning of the COVID lockdown, on Snapchat, because of course they did. Jess slid into JD’s DMs, and the two quickly hit it off. But every time he suggested meeting in person, nerves took over and Jess would disappear for a bit. This went on for longer than it should have … and somehow, JD stayed. With the world shut down, there was no traditional first date. Instead, they built something slowly — through long conversations, laughter, and getting to know each other one message at a time. JD fell for Jess’ smile and laugh, and Jess fell for his patience and consistency. What truly sealed it for both of them was family. JD knew Jess was his person when he saw the kind of mother she was to her son, Sebastian. Jess knew JD was her person when she saw the way he loved Sebastian, with: kindness, gentleness, and care. JD introduced Jess and Sebastian to God, and faith soon became the center of their relationship and their family. Their walk with God continues to guide them, shaping a home rooted in love, faith, and security. Together, they’ve grown their family, welcoming their son Benjamin in March 2022 and their daughter Michlynn in April 2024. When it came time to ask forever, JD chose a moment as meaningful as the journey. At sunset on top of Mount Haleakalā in Hawaii, he surprised Jess, with help from her mom and siblings. He made it even more special by first asking Sebastian for his permission. They share a love for fitness, are strong partners in every sense of the word, and are really good at loving each other. Their love story may not look like either of them expected, but it’s exactly the one they were meant to have.
