Even though we both hoped for the best, neither of us ever imagined that we'd meet our forever partner this way. But here we are! And we couldn't be happier. Zack was planning a move from Manhattan, Kansas to Kansas City, Missouri in January 2019 for a new job opportunity. Because he was quite unfamiliar with the city he was about to call home, he requested that I setup the plans for our first date. Oh, the pressure! We met on Main Street downtown, rode the streetcar to Union Station to visit the Museum of Illusions, and then had pizza (Zack's favorite, Pizza Bar) for dinner. It was the best first date either of us had ever had.
Not quite a year after we first met, Zack told me we had reservations at Pierponts in Union Station for dinner with friends. Little did I know, this was only a ruse to get me there. We walked hand in hand down the middle of the Grand Hall. As we took in the beauty of the Christmas decorations since Christmas was only days away, he spoke softly to me, reminding me how almost a year ago we had our first date in this same place. He turned to me with the biggest smile on his face, got down on one knee if the middle of the crowd, and asked me to marry him. I couldn't believe how lucky I was! "Yes!" I said, he slid the ring on my finger, and the crowd began to applaud. We could have been the only people in the room for all we knew, and we wouldn't have known the difference. There was just the two of us in that moment. It was absolutely magical.
