Our story began with a nervous boy working up the courage to ask a girl he had known since the 5th grade to the freshman formal. We were young, uncertain, and figuring life out, but even then, we knew what we had was special. Though our time as “boyfriend and girlfriend” was brief, our friendship never wavered. We stayed close, always finding excuses to catch up, laugh, and share pieces of life with each other. Our senior year of high school brought a night that seemed ordinary, a simple bonfire with friends, but it turned out to change everything. What began as a friendly hug, just a “good to see you,” became something so much more. In that moment, we both realized what had been missing. From then on, we walked hand in hand through high school graduation, college acceptances, many moves, and countless important moments. We grew together through different stages of life, navigating new cities, challenges, and chapters, yet through it all, one thing never changed: our love for one another. As we walked, the trees were strung with printed photos from every year of our lives together, from the freshman formal to our most recent adventures throughout college.
