We both worked for Zumiez and had met at a few company events in passing, but never really talked. It was the weekend before Jamie’s birthday and I asked him what his birthday plans were- and he had none. I decided to go for it and I invited him to come out to Buffalo. I surprised him with a small get together of some of our co-workers and we all took him out to celebrate his birthday. After too many tequila shots, some bad dance moves, an awful game of darts and some Jim’s Steakout, we were on our way back to my house both laughing until our sides hurt. From this night on we were hooked. Driving back and forth 60 miles to see each other on the weekends for months until one day Jamie said “I want to be where you are” and moved to Buffalo. We’ve since moved between apartments, adopted another dog together, left old jobs and started new ones, and have grown together- as a family with our daughter Saige Elizabeth. <3

As I mentioned before, we initially started dating over our birthdays. I took him out and a few weeks later he took me out for my birthday. Ever since, we’ve always put a big emphasis on our birthdays. Jamie is always going above & beyond to out-do my birthday surprises for him... this year, 2019, was no different. On my 30th birthday Jamie surprised me by taking me for a walk along the small boat harbor (one of our favorite places) and getting down on one knee. The surprises didn’t stop there! After I said yes he had convinced me that we were headed to my parents for a birthday dinner- as we walked into their house we were greeted by our closest friends and family yelling “Surprise! Congratulations!”.
